Saturday night's David Bromberg Birthday Bash concert at The Egg was a three-hour tour de force by Woodstock's folk legacy artists confirming the region's place in folk music's colorful heritage. The first set was a front porch jam session without the railing.

Give David Bromberg an hour and 50 minutes, and he’ll play for you the blues, country and western, bluegrass, rock ‘n’ roll and gospel music. Stay long enough, and he’ll even toss in an old English drinking song for fun.

For fans, it was an early Thanksgiving. The good feeling and anticipation in the crowd was palpable.

Noted roots artist David Bromberg appeared in a big band format at the Sixth & I Historic Synagogue recently. His band included a horn section—trumpet, trombone, and sax — and strings — fiddle and banjo.

The man was truly born to be a performer, and he had the crowd enthralled in his quirky tales of woe from start to finish.

Now David Bromberg can be added to that list as he started off the second night of the Americana Music Association Festival at the Station Inn.
