Patti Smith Quartet take Vicar St to another dimension
The heat cast an apocalyptic pall over Portland. For the third day in a row, temperatures crested over 100 degrees. The streets were mainly deserted save a few homeless folks and those who needed to walk their dogs. The air hung with no breeze.
Patti Smith is a treasure trove of living musical history, and she revealed much of that legacy in song and storytelling on August 9th at the Lobero Theatre in Santa Barbara. The concert was a continuation of the celebration of the 150th anniversary of the historic venue.
