Dixie Dregs is a progressive rock band formed in the 1970s. Their mostly instrumental music fuses jazz, southern rock, bluegrass and classical forms in an often technical but always unique virtuosic style.

Rod Morgenstein | Dixie Dregs The original band that recorded their first album, “The Great Spectacular,” back in 1975 has just reunited for a concert tour.
Guitarist Steve Morse joked with me at the after-show hang at the Dixie Dregs show that I had to take into account the band’s performance through the prism of each member’s more “advanced” years.
I’ve been a Dixie Dregs fan for as long as I can remember. I’ve still got their original LPs in my vinyl collection and have seen the band perform several times over the years.
