The last time I (or anyone else, for that matter) saw Failure was in 2019 for the tour to support their album In The Future Your Body Will Be The Furthest Thing From Your Mind. That tour was amazing, so my expectations were incredibly high for this go around.
That said, about 150 of the attendees actually got to witness a pretty stellar show. The trio kicked off their set with a crunching rendition of “Submarines,” a song that leans artistically into their long kinship with mates Tool.
Tonight was a first for me - Swervedriver guitarist Adam Franklin asked for more lighting on the stage because he couldn’t see the frets on his guitar.
