It’s been a great couple of weeks for any Deep Purple fan in the Capital Region.
Glenn Hughes is one of those legendary rock musicians who when you speak his name to a group of musicians, they all drop everything and will have nothing but praise for. A veteran musician who has played with Trapeze, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, Hughes / Thrall Band, Black Country Communion, and the Dead Daisies.
The “Voice of Rock”, Glenn Hughes returned to Rock City on Sunday night as part of his Classic Deep Purple Live tour. Touring to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Deep Purple's seminal album Burn, his stage presence was still energetic as he prowled around the stage like a true rock star.
Its no coincidence that after two and a half years on the road playing the classic-era tracks from his former band Deep Purple, Glenn Hughes has chosen to end his tour in the West Midlands.
But, despite such a stuffed CV, Hughes will forever be synonymous with the band that made him a bonafide rock star in the ‘70s and, eventually, landed him in the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame.
Legendary talents who have survived the many pitfalls and pleasures of the music industry, tend to be big characters with supreme confidence who love the centre stage.
