Hawksley Workman (born March 4, 1975) is the stage name of Ryan Corrigan, a Canadian rock singer-songwriter who has acquired critical approval for his original yet accessible blend of cabaret pop and glam rock. He was born in Ontario, Canada, near Huntsville in the Muskoka region, north of Toronto.
Equal parts arty and rock n' roll he will end up bantering in almost a beat poet style between songs and I lost count of how many times he said ‘bless you' to the audience.
Full disclosure - about 75% of the reason I went to see this show was that according to the press release, Pitchfork has compared Hawksley Workman's voice to Freddie Mercury. The other 25% is that he's Canadian, and I have a fascination with cultural exports from our neighbor to the north.
