Ill Nino

As the first festival in our world to make its triumphant return last year following the pandemic, Bloodstock Festival was a saving grace for so many people who had been starved of live music in the age of lockdowns.

In honour of that anniversary, Ill Nino toured Australia to play their debut in full which they did to an ecstatic audience on the final stop of their tour in Brisbane at The Triffid (6 August).

Sanctorum started tonight’s metal bash off with some hard-hitting roaring thrash. For an opening act they got a really good reception from the crowd. There were a lot of heads nodding and impressed faces, and the occasional two-man mosh pit throughout their fast paced performance. Their intricate guitar solos

With their rather melodic vocals yet heavy metal guitars, at first glance, seemed an unlikely choice to open the show.

Being the name of their debut album from 2001 this was the anniversary tour of this release which meant every track from the debut would be played in its entirety – a concept that is becoming more and more frequent.
