Joan As Police Woman put on a show in Avondale last night that was both exquisite and shambolic. The music was wonderful, but there were a few glitches.
With a career spanning across three decades, New Yorker Joan As Police Woman (aka Joan Wasser) really needs no introduction. The singer-songwriter has become critically acclaimed and widely adored for her genre-defying sound and distinctive voice, and having seen her perform live it is immediately evident why.
On this windy and chilly Saturday night (4 June), I welcome the warm and moody embrace enveloping me as I enter the atmospheric interior of The Tivoli (in Brisbane).

Quite possibly the coolest woman in music, Joan Wasser, aka Joan As Police Woman, was back in Brighton for her postponed show at St George's Church. We last featured her at the ‘Let It Be You' show at The Haunt with fellow Brooklyn artist Benjamin Lazar Davis, back in 2016, and he was back again with her band.
