Visiting the UK for the first time since 2018, with her London show part of a tour taking in dates in Italy and France, Joan Osborne once more showed what a consummate performer she is. Still best known for her recording of ‘If God Was One Of Us’, from her first major label album “Relish” released in 1995
Joan Osborne emerged from the backstage with an opening vamp to one of her new songs “I Should Have Danced,” & was received by her audience warmly & excitedly. She maneuvered with skill & slinky moves in a black & white kimono-like dress.
Will Joan Osborne's “One of Us” become a universal descriptor for the loneliness of a sequestered humanity where even God is lonely, “trying to make his way home/back up to Heaven all alone/nobody callin' on the phone/'cept for the Pope maybe in Rome?”
Performing as a duo at Wealthy Theatre, the Grammy-nominated singer reinterpreted soul and blues classics — and her own songs — in impressive fashion. (Review, photo gallery)
