John Scofield (born December 26, 1951 in Dayton, Ohio, USA) is a jazz guitarist and composer, who played and eventually collaborated with Miles Davis. A bebop master, Scofield is simultaneously well acquainted with R&B and blues styles which he mixes seamlessly with his jazz playing.

This year's autumn jazz festivals in Belgrade and Pancevo (just 25kms away from Belgrade) showed once again the passion and reverence the Balkan countries have when it comes to jazz.
David Sanborn’s new album, Time and the River, doesn’t quite catch the magic of the slender American soul-sax master’s explosively imploring sound, but his live shows are something else.
This was the case with last year’s triumphant birthday concert from John Surman and once again in this performance from New York-based guitarist John Scofield.
Setting up camp for a five night stand at Yoshi’s, the Bay Area’s premier jazz club, Scofield enlisted the likes of jazz heavyweights Eddie Henderson, Bill Steward and Dennis Irwin for what he pegged “The April Band.
