Shihad star Jon Toogood is currently touring a solo show, where with just a guitar and voice he takes us through the highlights of a life in music, while relating tales of adventure (and misadventure) along the way.

Kiwi music legend and all around good guy Jon Toogood is currently in the middle of a nationwide solo summer tour playing a selection of tracks he has penned for Shihad as well as covers of other great songs.

Designed to mark the 40th anniversary of Neil Young's classic album Live Rust, last night's show at Auckland's Civic became more than just a tribute to Young's work — it was also a raucous celebration of the joy and power of great songwriting and very loud guitars

Everyone that was there was a big fan of Shihad and there was a buzz of excitement rippling round the venue so from the moment that Toogood walked out on stage, he had everyone’s undivided attention.

A personal highlight was when Jon began telling us a story about a close friend of his and his battle with suicidal thoughts and depression.
