The Sheepdogs is a Canadian rock and roll band formed in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan in 2006. The group consists of lead singer and guitarist Ewan Currie, bass guitarist Ryan Gullen, drummer Sam Corbett, guitarist Jimmy Bowskill, and Shamus Currie (brother of lead singer Ewan Currie) playing trombone, keyboards, and tambourine.
The Sheepdogs hail from the Canadian prairie city Saskatoon, the small capital of Saskatchewan which interestingly has given us Deep Dark Words, Kacy and Clayton, Colter Wall and Steph Cameron, all very fine Americana musicians.
The Sheepdogs may hail from Saskatoon, Canada but it's clear that their musical roots lay much further south The Allman Brothers and the whole early seventies ‘southern rock' scene based around Capricorn Records in Macon, Georgia are clear reference points.
