Critic Consensus
Based on 13 concert reviews, the critic consensus is that Nine Black Alps is rated as a neither good nor bad live performer, with shows that lack distinction.
Nine Black Alps are a post-grunge/indie rock quartet from Manchester, England, named after a line in a Sylvia Plath poem and fronted by Sam Forrest. From their inception in late 2003, the band's energetic live performances earned them a hardcore fanbase after playing for only a few months on the Manchester music scene.
Sam Forrest's purple blouse and scarlet lipstick might sit oddly with his gravel-laced voice and stubble but there's certainly no doubting his musical talent.
As well as solidly gigging for the last couple of years their current tour sees them clock up 11 gigs in nine days of which 6 are freebies in rather unusual places.
They've been playing together for about a year have one independent single and a freshly inked deal with Island Records under their belts and they're all in their early 20s.
