It's 7pm, the humid air feels only a little less sticky than an hour before. So as not to encourage sweat, I walk leisurely from my wheels in the direction of Princess Theatre – she made my top five Brisbane live venues within weeks of opening last year.
As the lights dimmed and the crowd's excitement built up, singer Rody Walker stepped onto the stage casually and announced to the crowd that he had blown his throat.
From the moment I saw the announcement try and sneakily slide past my Facebook feed, I knew this was going to a show you didn't want to miss. I remember coming across the band shortly after 2008's Fortress was released and have been hooked on these Canuck's wild ride of progressive/punk ever since.
On that release the quintet seamlessly strung together ten tracks telling a complex story and wrote some incredibly technical riffs something that's even more impressive when you consider that they were still in their teens at the time.
