Bio
Rayland Baxter (stylized as rayLand Baxter) is an American alternative country musician from Nashville, Tennessee. He is currently signed to ATO Records.
Second-generation musician Rayland Baxter had a band booked to open for him recently at The Hamilton Live in DC, where he was touring behind his new album, If I Were A Butterfly. However, the drummer’s wife went into labor, so, naturally, he went to be with her
Strange American Dream and Yellow Eyes soared with sophisticated janglyness, while Everything To Me showed off Baxter’s more contemplative and subdued side. During the latter, the normally rowdy and enthusiastic crowd was practically silent.
Nashville-based singer/songwriter Rayland Baxter brought his special blend of folk, country, and pop to the Teragram Ballroom last evening. Baxter opened the show with a solo acoustic version of “79 Shiny Revolvers,” the breakout single from last summer’s acclaimed release Wide Awake.
The show also featured an opening performance from labelmate Margaret Glaspy, who we caught last May at Le Poisson Rouge. Performing a mix of old songs with plenty of new songs that she was very excited to share with us. We hope to get to hear them on a new record soon because they all sounded absolutely delightful.
