Critic Consensus
Based on 20 concert reviews, the critic consensus is that Rubblebucket is rated as an entertaining live performer, with many notable strengths. Rubblebucket concert reviews describe live shows and performances as joyous, ethereal, funky, energetic, lively, lyrical, and improvised.
Rubblebucket was formed after Kalmia Traver and Alex Toth met while attending The University of Vermont. Following graduation, the two were joined by Adam Dotson (trombone, euphonium, vocals), David Cole (drums) and Ian Hersey (electric guitar) and released their self-titled debut in 2009.
On Friday April 3rd the group took to the venue for the third time in as many years in support of their stellar fourth full length released in late 2014- Survival Sounds.
If you’ve ever been to one of their countless performances including their two-night run in NYC last January you’ll know that this Brooklyn-based band practically emits contagious rays of happiness.
Sowing seeds of lyrical genius into a flower of disco colors and glowing lights is the best way I can describe the Rubblebucket Chicago show at Lincoln Hall on 3/22/2012.
