Gartside, the musician who is Scritti Politti, wastefully shunned performance for a whopping 26 years, all through his most productive and high-profile years – namely the 1980s.
In the 1980s as Scritti Politti he created exquisite electro-pop love songs that questioned the very notion of love; barbed deconstructionist musical essays that enchanted even as they unravelled.
The audience gave a warm reception to Scritti, who played an amazing set covering early material, such as Sweetest Girl, the lush mid-80s hits Wood Beez, Word Girl and Absolute, to more recent tracks including Boom Boom Bap and Petrococadollar.
