Son of Dave, is a Canadian musician and singer-songwriter Benjamin Darvill (born January 4, 1967). He was a member of Grammy award-winning Canadian folk-rock band Crash Test Dummies in which he played harmonica, mandolin, guitar and percussion before returning to his blues, Beat-Box and harmonica driven solo work in 2000.

As an onlooker shouts to him 'play some tunes' the atmosphere lightens up and nerves turn to giggles when Darvil sarcastically retorts with 'yeah I’m gonna take your advice all nightoh buddy you’ve just sunk the ship.
With support from the excellent Leisure Tank and the powerful and unplugged Blues of King Size Slim, the headliner takes to the stage clad in sunglasses and fedora hat - all of which seem to impede his vision in the low light of The Borderline.
Son of Dave was opened for by not one but two singer songwriters in the dark depths of the Borderline in London only a stone’s throw from the main buzz of Soho.
It was a chilly, scantily-populated room above a pub made dizzy by a dismal disco ball, but actually a perfect hovel for the unwilling recluse Benjamin Darvill had created his character from.
From the off, it’s apparent that Son of Dave would seem more at home in a dingy, smoke-ridden, southern state bar, or perhaps out on the porch of a flimsy looking wooden house.
