A Night with a Prog Rock Legend: Steve Hackett's Timeless Triumph in Santa Barbara
You’d be surprised how many progressive rock fans there are in Nashville. They packed the Ryman when King Crimson played there in 2021. And they were out in full force for Steve Hackett, who played guitar for Genesis in the 1970s, and continues to cover that band’s classic era alongside his own music around the world
Steve Hackett returned to the Symphony Hall Birmingham on Sunday night to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Genesis' fourth studio album, Foxtrot, which he and his very tight band played in full.
Given that former Genesis members have been somewhat forgotten or relegated to little more than a footnote and the band often referred to in terms of either the Peter Gabriel or Phil Collins eras, it's unlikely anyone would have predicted Steve Hackett to be the current flag bearer of Genesis.
Steve Hackett delivers an epic extravaganza bursting with treats at Auckland’s Town Hall. Many fans here have waited almost three years for this experience, amidst the carnage that is the pandemic. They stood to applaud throughout the show. They stood to applaud at the end.
