So it must be something of a comedown for their former guitarist Gavin Burrough to find himself playing back in front of a small and largely unappreciative crowd at Clwb.
Following the acclaimed release of their debut album Everything Touching the Falmouth three-piece are busy mesmerising crowds across the UK and are sure to be festival masterpieces this summer.
The warm-up bands are well chosen and talented though, and once Tall Ships kick off their first track, titled T=0, launching into synth-heavy guitar crescendos and catchy lyrics, it is clear they’re worth the wait.
I don’t mean to reduce this show to a run of cheesy puns against their namesake, but nautical comparisons actually fit the bill well to describe the power of their music.
It’s an interesting sentiment to hear from a group who have tonight sold out The Old Blue Last without having released even a scrap of new material in over two years.
