It’s a shame the room wasn’t full, because what Appleseed Cast do on stage feels somehow closer to alchemy than anything.
Before that album was recorded the indie band had moved from Southern California to North Carolina and finally to Lawrence Kansas where they have remained active ever since despite a rotating cast of players on each subsequent release.
Playing out like one long sprawling track the 2001 two-volume album found the Lawrence KS outfit ditching their '90s emo roots and embracing a sound of a more complex and sophisticated nature.
