Chicago Theatre gets “Tempted” by a half-century of Squeeze and The English Beat

The world is lucky that Dave Wakeling still loves putting on a great show, and especially lucky that he likes bringing The Beat to small venues for intimate performances, the kind where everybody's drinking and dancing and singing along, like the one that happened at Old Princeton Landing (“OPL” for locals)

The Beat and Bow Wow Wow at Rock City

Churchill, facing the darkest of times in the face of a supposedly unstoppable Nazi war machine vowed to a hushed House of Commons in 1940 that he had nothing to offer but blood, toil, tears and sweat.

The English Beat were at Rock City on Saturday night and they brought with them a whole load of memories for a crowd that never tires of hearing their hits.

Both these bands, along with the Specials and Madness, all formed around the same time in the mid to late70s when punk was hitting its straps.
