Not many musical outfits better characterise Australia's cultural and creative diversity than The Cat Empire.
For a place that was once filled with dark moments, Fremantle Prison was brought to life and colour with the presence and performance of The Cat Empire on Saturday evening (22 April).
It's been an exciting year since The Cat Empire's last appearance at the Zoo Twilight shows of 2019. They have toured to sold-out venues around the country, released their album Stolen Diamonds and frankly had a little bit of fun around Australia as they toured.
After a short run with the resident DJ, The Meltdown opened the evening's affair, with a funk driven soul bias the multi-piece band a perfect thematic warm up for genre-vague Cat Empire.
With a unique fusion of jazz and ska mixed in with elements of alternative rock, The Cat Empire have made themselves one of Australia's biggest exports.
