Forming in Brisbane in 2003, The Gin Club casually coagulated around a regular open mic night held in a Brisbane pub. Originally based on a fairly elastic lineup, the band has stabilized but it is still a large ensemble with seven songwriters.

Cat Black started the night off with the dark moody blues infused version of garage rock. Emma Heath’s, soulful Patti Smith-ish vocals, floated above pounding drums and bass and the stark guitar of Ryan Nash in a manner that just seems to fit.
