The Verve (originally Verve) was an English alternative rock band. The band was formed in 1989 at Winstanley College, Wigan, Greater Manchester, England, by vocalist Richard Ashcroft, guitarist Nick McCabe, bassist Simon Jones and drummer Peter Salisbury.
Originally broken apart by bitter feuding between the members the make-up was not in the pipeline but seeing them am I glad that they managed to put aside their differences.
Today's charts are full of sharp fast songs with narrated vocals delivered in street patois as opposed to epic meandering jams that combine north-west urban realism with space rock.
