In the haunting embrace of Fremantle Prison, Xavier Rudd, paired with his signature catchphrase for the evening – "How You feelin'" – set hearts alight with emotion across the venue.
One of the things that makes a great artist is their diversity and plethora of ideas. Xavier Rudd, being of Aboriginal, Irish and Scottish heritage, was at an excellent advantage to develop many ideas, which has enabled him over the past two decades to make songs incorporating socially conscious themes
Excited and calm we embarked on our inbound journey to the epicentre of Brisbane's nightlife to witness Xavier Rudd at The Fortitude Music Hall on Saturday (28 May).
Friday night saw the South Lawn of the Fremantle Arts Centre play host to the penultimate night of Xavier Rudd's Storm Boy Australian tour, joining Rudd for the evening were Victoria's The Teskey Brothers.
While some moments may have pleased the diehard Xavier Rudd fans, a large portion of the audience seemed to struggle to muster more than occasional enthusiasm.
Dominated by ska rhythms, the set was well paced, moving between effortlessly mellow, reggae-inspired numbers and high-energy rock tracks with long drawn out and exciting breakdowns.
