The four-piece usually thrives on distortion pairing big guitars with soaring keys and singer Yuki Chikudate's vaulting voice to create a massive live show.
Asobi Seksu Brooklyn-based and Japanese-inspired indie rock group Asobi Seksu played a few songs for a more-than-silent crowd of sophisticated couples and flannel-wearing men at Hailey's on Sunday night.
Luckily the sound-gremlins soon retire and leave the band free to deliver a set of gorgeous shoe-gaze where tracks don't so much start and end as pulsate shift and transform into one another bridged by swirling synthesisers.
What more could you possibly want? A free CD and a badge from the support act before you’ve even entered the venue you say? Hoorah for Kontakte then who are happy to oblige.
