Dark Tranquillity are a Swedish melodic death metal band from Gothenburg, formed in 1989 by singer Mikael Stanne and guitarist Niklas Sundin as Septic Broiler before changing their name in 1991. They are considered to be one of the earliest pioneers of the Gothenburg metal style.
As the first festival in our world to make its triumphant return last year following the pandemic, Bloodstock Festival was a saving grace for so many people who had been starved of live music in the age of lockdowns.
For one night only, extreme metal and London's premiere gay club have collided for a co-headline tour between folk metallers ENSIFERUM and melodeath pioneers DARK TRANQUILLITY.
Second band of the night are melodic doom/death metal Nailed to Obscurity from Esens Germany. The lights are low and eerie, not changing much from a doomy blue as lead singer Raimund Ennenga dominates the stage like some tall sorcerous waving his mic-less hand as if casting spells through out their set.
So the doors finally opened and it wasn't long before a hefty number of black clad eager metalheads had accumulated inside the Club Academy and as the lights dimmed, Nailed To Obscurity, with their brand of Germanic Melodic Death Metal hit the stage.
