Bio
Jesse Sykes is a Seattle-based singer-songwriter. Her backing band is The Sweet Hereafter, which features Phil Wandscher (late of Whiskeytown) on guitar.
Mark Linkous, the man behind the moniker, brought his current incarnation of the band along with Jesse Sykes and the Sweet Hereafter, touring in support of Like, Love, Lust & The Open Halls of the Soul, her latest release.
Sykes and her stellar band- The Sweet Hereafter – has been making “spooky Americana” that critics have relished for a few years now, yet she still remains a few magazine covers away from obtaining lofty Cat Power/Neko Case status.
First there was Laura Veirs lamenting the extreme heat and extraordinary sweatiness of the Borderline and then there was Jesse Sykes wondering if she had any chance of making it through her set without passing out.
